DCSWCC Summer Social a rousing good time

Event News

The Washington DC Metro Area Star Wars Collecting Club (DCSWCC) held its 5th annual Summer Social on September 20th, 2008 in Poolesville, MD.

The Fairbanks Farm was the site of the club's 5th Anniversary celebration, which featured the usual hayrides, pool noodle lightsaber battles, Sarlacc Swap gift exchange, food, fun, and fellowship. Our children's pinata this year was an extremely accurate (and fitting) lightsaber training remote, constructed by Vice President Frank Klukosky. MD Regional Director Jason Stewart designed a Family Feud game -- complete with sound effects and theme music, with President Martin Thurn filling in for Richard Dawson -- which was a huge hit with our "Star Wars wives" and children alike. The highlight of the day was arguably our best-ever member-only raffle which featured no fewer than four Gentle Giant mini-busts, six Celebration medallions, a vintage Millennium Falcon model, books, gift certificates, and much more.
